Connect ChatGPT Business to Stax.

ChatGPT Business (formerly ChatGPT Team) seat usage lives in the OpenAI admin console only — there's no programmatic billing API for the seat-based product. Stax tracks it via your monthly workspace analytics export.

Upload flow not yet built. The dashboard's CSV upload form is on the v0.2 roadmap (target: week 4-6 post-launch). Until then, email your workspace analytics CSV to [email protected] and we'll import it manually within one business day.

Important separation. ChatGPT Business and the OpenAI API platform are billed separately. If you pay for both, you need both connected: this guide for the seat-based ChatGPT product, and the OpenAI guide for the API platform.

Step 1

Download your workspace analytics CSV.

Open the Analytics (or Reports) tab.
Set the date range to the previous month.
Click Export CSV. You'll get per-seat activity counts, last-active dates, and seat plan info.
If your workspace uses Codex usage-based seats (launched April 2026), the export includes their usage as a separate column.

ChatGPT Team was renamed to ChatGPT Business on August 29, 2025. If your admin console still says "Team" in places, you're looking at the same product — nothing changes about the export.

Step 2

Upload the CSV to Stax.

When the upload flow ships, drag the CSV into /app → Providers → ChatGPT Business → Upload analytics. Stax will compute seat-level cost from your plan price and add per-seat activity rows.

Until then, the manual route is:

Email the CSV to [email protected] with subject ChatGPT Business import.
Tell us your plan tier (Business at $30/seat/mo, or your custom Enterprise rate) so we can attribute cost correctly.
Get a confirmation reply within one business day.

Step 3

What you'll see after the import.

Per-seat monthly cost in USD (seats × plan price).
Per-seat activity: message count, days active, last-active date.
Idle seats: anyone whose last-active date is more than 30 days ago surfaces in the dashboard as a candidate to deassign.
Codex usage-based seat consumption as a separate line item, since that tier is metered rather than flat.

When will live sync arrive?

OpenAI has not announced a programmatic billing API for ChatGPT Business. The day they ship one, Stax will move this from "Monthly upload" to "Live API" and email everyone with a ChatGPT Business connection. Historical CSV rows stay in place — no migration needed.

Common errors

No analytics tab

You're a workspace member, not an admin or owner. The analytics export is admin-gated. Ask your workspace owner to download and share the CSV.

Codex seats missing

Workspace doesn't have Codex enabled. Codex usage-based seats are a separate add-on that launched April 2026. If your workspace doesn't use them, that column simply won't be in the export and Stax skips it.
